She is known as the firebrand of Bollywood and though she has her base there, she is very much the beauty from Hyderabad who believes in living life on her own terms and is not into relationships unless it is required.
Clearly known as Tabassum Hashmi, Tabu is a winner of two National Awards, seven Filmfares and has got about 20 plus years experience in the film industry to her credit. Tabu is the best bet for doing unconventional roles and brings them to the screen without a hitch.


The hefty beauty says that she has always been choosy and irrespective of what people think about it, if she is convinced about a particular character she goes for it. Tabu also says that this fundamental is applied in her life and relationships as well. Sharing her thoughts about the acclaimed movie ‘Cheeni Kum’, Tabu recalled how all spoke about the screen chemistry with Amitabh Bachchan. She said that it was all about sharing a “human bond that goes beyond work”. Right now, Tabu is waiting for her next venture ‘The Legend of Kunal’ to begin so that she can work with Big B again. This time, she will be seducing Arjun Rampal, a younger man who’s her stepson.
And then, there is ‘Toh Baat Pakki’ wherein she plays an elder sister with a fiercely protective streak. Tabu says that this is kind of based on her own experiences and her equations with sister Farah who was said to be extremely protective about her throughout and was always ready to fight her battles.
Apart from art-house films, Tabu is perfect in her glam avatar. In the new movie ‘Season’s Greetings’ she plays a rich single woman and for this she got Gaviin Miguel to design long gowns and dresses with plunging necklines. In her next one ‘Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai’ which happens to be a remake of the Oscar winning Hollywood comedy, My Cousin Vinny, Tabu is appearing in a special role as a lawyer for her friend Ravi Chopra.
Speaking about the increasing remakes in the Hindi film industry, Tabu says that it is always better to be original. However, she maintains that globalization is something inevitable and it has become a part of our daily life. Sharing her thoughts on acting in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Bengali and even an English movie, Tabu said that acting in an alien language has its disadvantages. She said that one can’t improvise on the dialogues and have to stick to the dialogue sheet. However, she stated that acting in Tollywood was easy as she knows the language.
Tabu has studied in Hyderabad and though she went to Mumbai and her connection with the city was cut off, it was re-established through the Telugu film industry. Speaking about her next possible Telugu film, Tabu says she would love to do a film with Nag (Nagarjuna) again. The pretty girl mentions that working with him is like a picnic and currently, she is on the lookout for a really good script. Reacting to the comments that Nag made in a TV chat show about how valuable Tabu was to him and also the incident of getting a peck on the cheek at the recent Filmfare Awards, Tabu said that the past few years have been spent by folks around speculating about both of them.
